We are proud to be a part of the city of Nice where the urban environment is in perfect harmony with technological activities, particularly in the areas of green technologies, the smart city, intelligent building and risk management. #technopoleurbaine #Nice
Here’s a piece from the Nice Convention Bureau on the smart city advances in our region:
An ecologically responsible area of reference
The convergence of ICTs and eco-technologies creates a favorable field of action on the Côte d’Azur. Sophia Antipolis—a leading technology park—designs, develops and standardizes the technologies of tomorrow. The Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis is inviting research labs and companies at the forefront of innovation to invent a smart and sustainable city. Nice’s “Eco-Vallée” is located at the periphery of the Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. A technology park in the making dedicated to eco-technologies, it’s a testing ground as well as a reception site for leading companies. Green building, smart grids, sustainable mobility, and renewable energies are all promising sectors on which the high-tech clusters are positioning themselves, e.g. Capénergies, Solutions Communicantes Sécurisées (SCS), and Risques, and they are finding a concentration of expertise and experimentation on the Côte d’Azur.
This sector is based on:
The development of smart cities
1st experimentation of “contactless NFC” in Europe with the Cityzy platform services and the Connecthings service deployed by Véolia Transports on the bus system (Nice, 2010)
1st large-scale car sharing service in France: Auto-Bleue (Nice, 2011)
1st smart grid demonstration in France, unique in Europe: the Nice Grid, a smart solar neighborhood demonstration in Carros with ERDF, EDF, Alstom, Saft, etc. (Nice Eco-Vallée, since 2011)
1st smart parking system in Europe (Nice, 2012)
1st smart grid territorial charter in France (Alpes-Maritimes charter, 2013)
4th smart city in the world according to Juniper Research (Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis, 2015)
Winner of Label Idex (Nice, 2016)
Winner of the Smart Innovation Trophy and the Silver Decibel (Nice, 2016)
Candidate for the “ICapital” Prize (Nice, 2017)
The development of renewable energies
Startups, labs, and companies at the forefront of innovation congregate in the reception center of innovative companies, who are dedicating 2,500 m2 to eco-technologies and enabling companies to set up shop quickly in the region.
Several labs are involved in research projects. The Capenergies hub, dedicated to generating energy without greenhouse gas emissions, has made renewable energies its development priority.
IMREDD, the Mediterranean Institute for Risk, Environment, and Sustainable Development.
A powerful symbol of innovation, economic development, and environmental exemplariness, and part of the University of Nice-Sophia-Antipolis, it represents the first brick of the Plaine du Var’s eco-campus dedicated to environment.
